The Trust

The Austrian Vipassana Trust has been established in 2008 in order to serve the growing demand for Vipassana courses in Austria. From 2008 till 2010 three courses could be organized annually at rented sites with capacities of up to 150 persons. In 2011 and 2012 four courses have been held and even five courseshave been scheduled for 2013 and 2014.

The long term perspective is to establish an Austrian meditation centre, dedicated solely to running Vipassana Meditation Courses. A site has been bought. Planning, design and funding are already in progress. For information about the current status of the centre project can be found in the "Old Student's Section - Dhamma Mudita".

The outreach committee has organized viewings of the film “Doing Time Doing Vipassana” which documents the stunning effects of Vipassana in Indian prison rehabilitation programs and more screenings ( inclusive a the new Documentary “ The Dhamma Brothers” on Vipassana Meditation in Jails in USA ) are projected for 2011 at the university of Vienna. Also the website www.austria.dhamma.org will be upgraded to the international standard.

Different committees, like the course organization committee, finance committee, kitchen committee, outreach committee, inreach committee or the centre development committee have been established. They are open to old students who have done at least one course. Whoever whishes to participate and support any of these committees is very welcome. Please contact us at [email protected]
